200 years of history
- 1810 : Beginning of the industrial adventure Peugeot marked by transforming the family mill Sous-Cratet into a steel foundry .
- 1820 : Creation of a mutual for the staff in factories Hérimoncourt and Audincourt .
- 1830 : Creation of company Constant Peugeot & Cie, which specializes in parts and materials for the textile industry.
- 1840 : Peugeot Japy & Cie began manufacturing coffee grinders.
- 1847 : The stylized lion became the symbol of the Mark Peugeot.
- 1852 : The company Peugeot Frères began producing crinolines .
- 1876 : Peugeot Sewing machines won the gold medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition .
- 1882 : Start of series-production of motocycles in Peugeot Frères with Grand-Bi.
- 1891 : Peugeot and Panhard sell their first motor cars .
- 1895 : First automobile race. Peugeot won by beating Panhard ( Panhard is demoted for having competed with a two-seater and not a four-seater , as stipulated in the regulation).
- 1898 : Peugeot Frères develops motorcycles .
- 1905: Foundation of the “Citroën gears Company”. The teeth of these gears, chevron-shaped, became the emblem of the brand.
- 1907: Creation of the “Hillman Motor Car Company”, which settled near Coventry.
- 1919: Citroën resumed production of the factory Quai de Javel for assembling 30 cars per day, and innovative social infrastructures (nursery, dentist’s office, …) are established.
- 1922: Creation of SOVAC by Citroën, first consumer credit company in Europe.
- 1925: Pioneer of modern advertising, Citroën projected his name with illuminated letters onto the Eiffel Tower.
- 1928: FC Sochaux became the first French professional football club.
- 1933: Peugeot Frères marketed the first electric tools.
- 1948: Citroën launched 2CV, to be manufactured around 3.9 million units until 1990.
- 1951: Beginning of the collaboration with Pininfarina, which designed many Peugeot models.
- 1952: Peugeot Automobiles produced the one millionth vehicle.
- 1955 Citroën presents DS at the Paris Salon, model now become a legend.
